i Love Katamari!

I just got word that Bandai Namco released i Love Katamari for the iPhone on the App store.

It’s 7.99$ and the word on the ground is, the thing was optimized for the iPod Touch, which has a faster processor than the iPhone, but still… Katamari crack for iPhone lovers!!! WOOHOO!

I might have to go drop 8$ on this ridiculous little game.

Regular People Do NOT Understand Geeks.

Let’s be realistic about how we get involved in relationships that work.

We find someone that we like the look of, we learn if they have things in common with us, and if we find enough commonality to build a foundation upon, we can have a successful relationship with that person. This is true of friendship, family and romance. It’s actually really very simple, but people get so wound up about romance and dating that they can’t see the forest for the trees.

Some Crazy Asian Finally Invented the Persocom.

Now, of course, I disagree that she’s perfect but I know a lot of guys who will appreciate this article in which a man has built himself a wife. via /.

What more could a guy want, really?

This gal is attractive, reads you the morning headlines and has a smokin’ hot bod, but he can’t have sex with her yet. Much like Chii from Clamp’s manga, Chobits. I always felt so bad for Hideki. He had all that porn hanging around, he was clearly not in control of his hormones… and he couldn’t have sex with his girlfriend because she was a robot.

Netflix Silverlight Plugin for Mac is in the Wild.

Netflix announced that its silverlight plugin that allows Mac users to use the Netflix Instant Watch feature is available today, as in like.. right now. If you go to netflix from a mac, and click on “Watch now!” on any instant play title, it forwards you to a page where you can download the silverlight plugin.

However… I think I am going to wait a week and see how this one shakes out first. The early reviews from beta testers of the Silverlight plug-in were not at all positive and one guy complained that he actually had to reboot his mac. Given than I haven’t had to reboot my mac once in the last week or shut it down, I find there to be something inherently wrong with that idea… so I’ll wait.

What about the rest of you mac users out there?

Are you brave enough?

The Nokia N97: Is it just me, or is this thing the Gigantor of cellular devices?

I really get excited about cell phone tech. I live by my cell phone, my entire life is programmed into it so there are a lot of features that I use and need and the biggest one is probably scheduling software and task management that is easy to use and is not buggy. This isn’t much to ask for, at least that’s what I think, but you’d be surprised at how few phones provide these features.

My New Macbook.

IMG_0022

As you all know, I’ve been wanting one of these things for a while.

This will be my first blog post from my new macbook and here are just a few first impressions.

1. There is nothing here that does not need to be here and I seriously love that.

The Blackberry Storm is Coming…

And you don’t need to get the wife and kids to the storm cellar. Much like every other Blackberry, the reviews have come in and said the same things. I’m just going to give you the highlights and a link to the article I found that has a good round up of the reviews I’ve read today.

1. Clunky user interface
2. Sub-standard web browsing experience.
3. Clickable touch screen “seems like a failed experiment”.

The fact that Apple made a great user interface that even my technophobe aunt can use, made a web browser that works like firefox fit on a cell phone, and their gorgeous touch screen are all corner stones of why the iPhone is what it is. Until someone can make these three things come together in a phone again, and put out a device that has some advantage over the iPhone that I cannot currently see, then iPhone killers really are just an idea in the distant future.

Barack Obama to Suffer from Internet Withdrawal.

This is something that had never occurred to me. The president of the United States cannot communicate via email. I’m sure that I knew that somewhere deep down, but I was sure exceptions were made for family. I was positive that it was always possible for George Bush to email pictures of his wife and pets to his parents as they enjoy their retirement, but the New York Times pointed out that Barack Obama is expecting to be told by the secret service to give up his blackberry.

People that know me in real life know that it is nearly impossible to separate me from my iPhone. I am practically attached to the thing, and when I broke my first gen iPhone earlier this week I was so upset that I wrote a scathing blog post about the 3g that I had replaced the phone with. Of course… now I don’t want to give the 3g up because it’s my NEW iPhone and is my NEW appendage… and it’s shiny too.

I am not sure that I would ever be able to bring myself to hand it over. Not even if I had been elected ruler of the free world.

President-elect Obama, I already admire you for being willing to hand over your crackberry to the secret service. If you manage to bring yourself to do it without saying, “Screw you! I’m not taking this tin pot job!” you, Sir… are a far better person than I.

The Luckiest Photocopier, Ever.

It’s Wednesday, so even the song is appropriate. It’s called “Weekend” and while appropriate, it’s not the greatest thing, but still… I know many men, some of whom read this blog, that would wish they could be the photocopier.

The Dumbest Ideas in Computer Security

This article is very much related to the comment discussion I had with tsykoduk yesterday in this post, where tsykoduk has begun my much needed education on computer security in the wireless world.

Some of these points are really hilarious and these are more related to the corporate world than anything else, but still a good read for those of us who are interested in modern computer security. This is also a fine example of what I believe to be true, that good computer security is 90% common sense, 10% strong technology.
